Basic course, Greece, 1 week
Sailing Courses in Greece — Sailstar in the Aegean Learn to sail in Greece — where sailing is at its best! Join Sailstar to Greece and experience sailing among some of the Mediterranean's most classic waters. Our courses start from the Olympic Marina in Lavrion, only 30 minutes from Athens airport — easy, smooth and perfect for both spring and autumn seasons. During the course you will live and sail aboard a Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 — sometimes accompanied by a sister boat, e.g. SO 439 or Hanse 455, when we sail in squadrons. We offer both a basic course and a continuation course, with different routes depending on the level of the course: The basic course runs along the Greek mainland or into the bays around the Peloponnese — calm waters, shorter stages and plenty of time for exercises in sailing, maneuvering and navigation. The continuation course takes you out towards the Cyclades, with longer legs, more wind and night sailing — ideal for those who already have Sailing Certificate 1 or 2. . A typical sailing week For six days, we sail between vibrant coastal towns, bathing coves and charming islands. You will learn how to sail, maneuver and add a large sailboat in real conditions. We train on swerving rules, sail trim, man-over tables and safety procedures — always with confident guidance from Sailstar's experienced instructors. In the evenings, we enjoy Greek cuisine, crystal clear waters and starry nights moored in small harbors or natural coves. . Seasons and Times We sail 6—8 weeks in the spring and the same length in the fall: 📅 May 1 — June 15 and September 15 — early November The weather is stable, the water warm and the winds usually northerly and light — perfect conditions for sailing and learning. . About Sailstar

Company Presentation — Sailstar

About Sailstar

Sailstar is one of Sweden's most established sailing schools for adults — founded and run by Tomas Sandström, sailor, instructor and author of several of the country's most widely used sailing books.
Since its inception in 2010, Sailstar has trained over 4,800 sailors in everything from beginner courses to advanced racing and long-distance sailing.

The business starts at Viggbyholm in Täby, north of Stockholm, and is complemented by international courses in Greece.
The philosophy is simple — to teach sailing in a safe, educational and inspiring way where practice, experience and knowledge go hand in hand.

History

Sailstar was founded with the vision to create a sailing school that took adult learning seriously.
Unlike many traditional sailing schools, Sailstar initially built its courses on small groups, well-trained instructors and modern boats.

The 2010s saw the addition of big boat courses at Operah, racing activities with Aira 22 boats, and international sailing weeks in Croatia.
In 2025, the business expanded to Greece as well, with a sailing base in the Olympic Marina, Lavrion.

Today

Today Sailstar offers a complete training program for both beginners and experienced sailors.
The company has a unique combination of practical instruction in modern boats and well-structured training materials — including the course book Basics of Sailing and several further developed theory modules online.

The instructors are experienced sailors with a solid background in racing, long-distance sailing and training.
Course operations are conducted with modern day sailors (Aira 22), dinghies, NF boats and large sailboats (Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 440 “Agrippa” and Beneteau 50 “Operah”).
